'''''Famicom Wars''''', the very first installment of the ''[[Nintendo Wars]]'' series. Released in Japan on August 12, 1988 for the Family Computer (Famicom). The game saw multiple re-releases in Japan for the Wii Virtual Console on May 19, 2009, the 3DS Virtual Console on December 26, 2012, the Wii U Virtual Console on December 3, 2014, and the Nintendo Switch Online service on December 12, 2019. While it never released outside of Japan, an unofficial translation patch became available in 2006, which opened up the previously little-known game to Western audiences.
