Orange Dawn is the third (second in Hard Campaign) mission of the Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising campaign. The player acts as Max, an Orange Star CO introduced in the first mission.

Background

Before the mission begins, Flak tries to contact the Orange Star troops, but the microphone is not working. When he is informed of this, he claims it is too complicated. However, Max is able to hear Flak and wonders what the commotion is about. Flak calls Max a gorilla, to which the Orange Star CO responds by calling his enemy an ape-man. He then asks what Black Hole is doing in Orange Star, and Flak responds by claiming that Orange Star belongs to Black Hole.

Nell tells Max to calm down as his temper can get the best of him; he needs to stay cool to win the fight. After convincing him of this fact, she gives him some more advice on his strengths and weaknesses as the battle begins. Flak says that Max reminds him of himself, except that he is himself, and that this battle will be fun.

After the battle, Max asks Flak how it was, and that he told the Black Hole CO not to mess with him. Flak is not impressed, as he claims it was just a test. He leaves, and Nell explains the rankings displayed after battle and where to spend the points.
