This template should be used for all files in the "Files:" namespace. It presents some information about the file, and automatically categorizes the image.

Parameters[edit source]

Parameter Mandatory Purpose Default Detailed description
game No Game Game for which the file was uploaded. This will be used to categorize images by game. This section is case-sensitive. If the file is for the series, enter series
summary Yes File summary A brief explanation of what the media displays, what it contains, or what it is used for.
type Yes Content type What type of content this is. This section is case-sensitive. Can be one of the following:
  • audio: File is audio only.
  • video: File is a video, either with or without sound.
  • photo: File is a real world object or concept.
  • sprite: File is of a sprite, texture, or general pixel-based imaging.
  • screenshot: File is a screen capture of the game.
  • map: File is a map of a location. This can include in-game or user generated, though in-game is preferred.
  • model: File is a 3D rendered model.
  • artwork: File contains artwork.
  • boxart: File is of a game's physical box art, or cover art digitally used to represent the game.
  • logo: File contains a logo, usually for a game series or company.
  • user: User image. Wiki users may have up to five (5) personal files.
  • wiki: File is dedicated for use on Wiki policy or help pages, or otherwise for the Wiki's benefit.
  • rating: File is of an age rating, such as the ESRB or CERO.
source Yes File source If this file was created by the user, type "self". If it was uploaded on behalf of another user, use "user" and the parameter below. If it was obtained off a website, type its URL here.
license No License fairuse If it cannot be deduced automatically from the content type, the license must be added here. This is the same parameter you would feed into Template:License.
user No User This optional parameter is used for when the file type is user, or when using user for source. It automatically creates a link to the user named in the parameter.
