Their Finest Hour is the twelfth level in the Battalion Wars 2 campaign.

Intel[edit | edit source]

The mission begins with an assault on the Anglo Airbase. Admiral A-Qira attempts to claim the facility by sending in wave after wave of Imperial Air Transports, escorted by Fighter jets and Gunships. Use your own Fighter to ground the Air Transports, and use the Bomber to eliminate any infantry that reach the ground. Beware of enemy Gunships, as well. Take care when turning attention to the enemy jets; a Fighter's attack power is the same regardless of faction, so a well-timed barrel roll can make all the difference. When the Airbase has successfully been defended, Commander Pierce sends in two Air Transports laden with infantry reinforcements and Admiral A-Qira is forced to go on the defensive.

The transports land a small group of riflemen and flame vets. Lead the other Anglo forces towards the Helipad in the northern village (Much Whittering). Take out a few Grunts on the way, then set the aircraft in Wait Mode near the bridge. Use the infantry to eliminate the Anti-Air Vets, then send in the Fighters to take care of the Imperial Gunships. Order the Bombers to attack the two MG Towers, then bomb the Grunts near the entrance. Activate the Helipad to receive Bazooka Vet reinforcements. A-Qira will dispatch two enemy Light Tanks to retake the village, so destroy them with the fresh Bazooka squadron (or intercept the transports carrying them with your fighters). Leave the village, and follow the path south.

At the first split in the path, turn to the left and destroy the Imperial Anti-Air Vets and Light Tank. Continue south, and blow up another Light Tank to clear the way. Order all aircraft into Wait Mode near the Light Tank's remains, then approach the ruins of Hengecleft Keep and eliminate the enemy Anti-Air Vets. Once the threat is gone, send in the Bombers to blow up the two MG Towers. Call in the Fighters next, as a few Gunships will try to prevent the Anglo forces from reaching the Helipad. When the area is clear, activate the Helipad to receive a Light Tank. As the player attempts to leave the ruins, A-Qira sends in his Air Transports. Clear out the enemies, then head back north. Order the infantry into Wait Mode, and use a Bomber to destroy the MG Nests on the far side of the bridge. Keep the Fighters nearby to defend against Gunship attack.

The riverside path leads south to the burning village of Lower Thatchford. Take out the enemy infantry along the road, then destroy the Anti-Air Tower. Look out for more enemy infantry approaching from the river, and liberate the infantry POWs (as usual, A-Qira will respond by sending in air transports). Head back north to the bridge, then set all aircraft in Wait Mode. Use the Light Tank and infantry to eliminate the enemy Grunts and the two Anti-Air Towers, then send in the Fighters to wipe out the Gunships. Forge ahead to the Imperial Airbase, and order the Bombers to blow apart the Auto-Guns, keeping an eye out for the air and ground reinforcements that A-Qira desperately sends in. Destroy the Light Tanks, then send the infantry to capture the Airbase flag. With Solar air-power effectively broken, the Mission is Complete.
