'''Game Boy Wars TURBO''' was released in Japan on June 24, 1997. The main new feature was that the CPU had access to an upgraded decision-making algorithm during its turns, which allowed battle to progress more quickly than in [[Game Boy Wars|the original game]]. 50 new maps were also included. Like other early [[Wars Series|Nintendo Wars]] games, it was never released outside of Japan.
The main version of the game was released in a special promotional tin.
