The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) is a fourth-generation console released by Nintendo in several territories around the world between 1990 and 1993. It was originally released as the Super Famicom (SFC) on November 21, 1990 in Japan. In South Korea it was known as the Super Comboy.

Super Famicom Wars was originally released for the Super Famicom via the Nintendo Power (cartridge writing service), after the previous release of a Satellaview demo of the game, known as Super Famicom Wars BS Han.

It is also possible to play the Game Boy Wars series using the Super Game Boy and Super Game Boy 2 add-on.
