Cleanup

Cleanup is the first mission of the Advance Wars 2 Campaign. In it you play as Andy, a CO in the service of Orange Star and who has been encountered in the previous game as well.

Background

Before the mission stars Andy calls Sami, another veteran CO in the Orange Star army. He asks her why Nell, their superior, has called for them. Sami states that the Black Hole army has returned, to which Max replies in utter disbelief. As Andy asks what they are waiting for, Sami mentions they aren't even in Cosmo Land, and goes on to explain about continents; a word where Andy seems to get lost. Apparently they have invaded all the nations of Macro Land, and Andy rushes off to the battle.

Flak, the enemy commander, is wondering why the Orange Star lines haven't been broken yet as a soldier replies they are stronger than expected, and mentions a new Orange Star CO is arriving; Flak says they will have to make do with the units they have.

Nell has defeated most of the Black Hole units present as Andy arrives, hoping for a chance to show-off. Instead Nell uses the opportunity to have Andy get back into the swing of combat. After some explanation of the basics of the mechanics while breaking the 4th wall, the player ends in the next turn where Andy will comment they don't seem to be fighting Sturm; Nell agrees, saying the enemy CO just wants to smash things.

After the battle Andy comments it seemed too easy, but Nells says he shouldn't worry as she thinks they're in for a whole slew of combat.

The next mission is Border Skirmish.
