Hachi, as he appears in Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Hachi is presumably the previous Commander-in-Chief of the Orange Star, and is currently retired, owning the Battle Maps section in the first three installments. His name is the same in every edition of the games and is spelt ハチ (Hachi; Hachi) in the Japanese versions. He has this in common with Max, Rachel, Sasha and Lin.

Role

In Advance Wars

In Advance Wars, Hachi only features as the owner of the Battle Maps, which he mans himself. He gossips with the advisor, indirectly passing on hints to help playing the game.

In Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising

Advance Wars 2 is the first game Hachi is a playable CO as well. He makes a short appearance when you've cleared Hard Campaign, and from that point onward you can use him in Versus Mode, presuming you buy him.

In Advance Wars: Dual Strike

In Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Hachi can be found in the Battle Maps section. He does not make an appearance in the Campaign mode, but is unlocked by clearing said mode with a S rank.

Personality

Hachi is a sociable old man, cheerful and full of energy. He is confident of himself and his abilities, and stays calm no matter the circumstances.

Relationships

Hachi was once the pupil of Sensei, alongside Kanbei. Why he left Yellow Comet for Orange Star is not known, but he holds no grudge to either of the pair.

Skills

All of Hachi's units can be bought at a lower price because of connections.

In Advance Wars 2

Day-to-Day (D2D) Hachi's units are completely neutral day to day in combat, but they can be bought at a price 10% lower than usual.

CO Power Barter All units can be bought for 50% of the original price, and they all get a 10% defense boost.

SCO Power Merchant Union All units can be bought for 50% of the original price, and cities can produce land units. The standard boost of 10% defense applies to all units.
