Black Bomb units are general damage missiles. They are used for damaging all other units in a range of detonation. They were introduced in Advance Wars: Dual Strike, which has been their only appearance so far.

Black Bombs are highly volatile and notorious units. Due to its unique way of dealing HP damage instead of dealing damage during combat, they are completely unaffected by firepower modifiers and do not charge CO Powers for anyone. Black Bombs ideally should explode on targets which are worth enough to compensate for its deployment cost, but given its huge explosion radius, finding such valuable opportunities usually isn't too difficult. Even if it doesn't fully earn back its investment, the sheer amount of damage it can cause may very well be worth it in most situations.
