Can't you just feel the riptide washing you out to open sea?
— Drake -

Drake is a Commanding Officer from Green Earth. He debuts in the Advance Wars Campaign mission Captain Drake!.

Drake is a former pirate. He as known as モップ (Moppu; Mop) in the Japanese versions of the games.

Role[edit | edit source]

In Advance Wars[edit | edit source]

Drake does not appear until near the end of the campaign in Advance Wars. When he does show up, he fights Orange Star, but not for vengeance as Eagle does; instead, Drake seeks to find answers in battle. He believes that Sonja's theory about a mystery foe creating clones is a possibility, but he wants to find proof. He tries to convince Eagle of his theory, but Eagle is not swayed by mere logic. Drake is also a candidate for The Final Battle; he fights on the eastern front if the player selected Andy for all fights against him as well as "Wings of Victory" and did not fight against Sonja.

In Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising[edit | edit source]

Drake and Eagle return in the second game.

In Advance Wars: Dual Strike[edit | edit source]

Drake himself does not make an appearance; however, he is cloned by the Black Hole army and is fought against in the mission Pincer Strike

Personality[edit | edit source]

Drake is a jolly and carefree CO, often preferring to go with the flow and not sweat the small stuff.

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Drake and Eagle generally get along, although Eagle's hotheadedness naturally clashes a bit with Drake's more calm demeanor. Eagle is sometimes frustrated with Drake's apparent lack of urgency, but he is never truly angry with him.

Drake is also friendly with Jess as a fellow Green Earth commander; he often serves as a calming influence when she and Eagle argue.

In Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising[edit | edit source]

  • Day-to-Day (D2D): Drake's naval units have +1 movement range and 110% defense. His air units have 70% firepower, however. Drake has clear weather movement costs in rain and raises the chance of rain by +7% in random weather.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • According to the Nintendo DREAM strategy guide for Game Boy Wars Advance 1+2, Drake is 15 years old.[2]
  • Contrary to his CO Dossier description in Advance Wars, Drake's naval units do not have increased firepower, but rather increased defense.
  • Drake is the only CO in Advance Wars capable of gaining five terrain defense stars during battle (by placing a naval unit on a Harbor).
  • Drake's appearance in Advance Wars is drastically altered between the Japanese and internationally released versions. In the Japanese version, Drake wears an outfit associated with traditional pirates.
    • This outfit seems to be referenced by his Special Outfit in Dual Strike.
