Where's the fool that wants to help me with target practice!? | ||
— Grit - |
Grit is a Commanding Officer enlisted in the Blue Moon army. An expert in long-range combat, Grit's indirect units boast increased firepower and range. He is a laid-back person who works well with his fellow Blue Moon CO Olaf.
Role[edit | edit source]
In Advance Wars[edit | edit source]
Grit works as a CO in the Blue Moon Army, participating in the invasion of Orange Star under Olaf. He had however been cooperating with Sonja from Yellow Comet to uncover the perpetrator behind the war raging in Cosmo Land; eventually they managed to find Sturm in Black Hole. During the final mission he is one of the possible COs for the second army depending on what choices had been made earlier in the campaign.
In Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising[edit | edit source]
Grit is still a CO in the Blue Moon Army by the time Black Hole strikes again. During the mission Tanks!!! he is made an offer by Adder to join Black Hole, which Grit refuses. He can be used in several CO select missions on top of being the only usable CO in Nature Walk.
In Advance Wars: Dual Strike[edit | edit source]
Grit is one of the four COs to arrive as reinforcements during the second part of the campaign, just in time to help fending off the clones made of several other Allied Nations COs.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Grit has a rural-like personality particularly in the first mission of the Blue Moon Campaign in Advance Wars 2, when he is scolded by Olaf by being late and not remembering Black Hole.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
Max: Prior to Advance Wars, it's hinted that Max considered Grit a good friend before he left Orange star and joined Blue Moon. Throughout the Blue Moon campaign of the game, Max is openly hostile to Grit, questioning his reasons of leaving Orange Star. While his true motives for leaving are not fully stated, one implied reason he left (which is hinted through dialogue between him, Max, and Nell) is that during his time there both him and Max had developed feelings for Nell and in respect for his friend left the two together in Orange Star. While leaving on a sour note, the two begin to rekindle their friendship, such as during the final frontier against Sturm, Grit bringing a full force of direct units specifically for Max to use.
Nell: While their relationship has not developed much throughout the series, Nell and Grit seem to get along well with her, seemingly holding no real grudge against Grit leaving Orange Star.
Olaf: While often on Grit's tail about being lazy and carefree, the two work well together and could be considered good friends. Olaf sees Grit's laidback nature as simply lazy and has numerous times scolded him for such - however he has great respect for him as a person and his indirect prowess. While Grit's Apathy towards Blue Moon is more than obvious, he still offers to help Olaf rebuild his home country after being ravaged and nearly destroyed by Sturm.

Grit is adept at indirect combat; however, his direct combat units suffer as a result.
