Tanks!!! is the ninth mission of the Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising campaign. It is the first mission for the Blue Moon campaign.

Background

Olaf wakes Grit early in the morning to defend an area vital to the defense of Blue Moon, but before Olaf finishes scolding him, Grit leaves to ready his forces.

On site Grit encounters a whole host of enemy Medium Tanks, mentioning it makes no sense to go head to head with them. Adder, the Black Hole CO commanding the units, shows up and tells Grit he has a proposition; they want him to join the Black Hole army. He goes on to explain why Grit should join them, but lets it slip that they crushed several cities on their way; angered, Grit proclaims Adder his number one personal enemy and the battle starts.

When the battle is won Adder is in disbelief at having lost and retreats, Olaf is proud of Grit. However, the victorious CO ruins the moment by calling Olaf 'Frosty' which causes him to yell at Grit again.

Strategy

The biggest threat in this mission may not be immediately obvious; despite the intimidating brigade of Medium Tanks, the primary targets to shoot down are actually Adder's Mechs. Being the only units in his army capable of crossing Mountains, they can deal irreparable damage to Grit's Rockets, ruining your chances at victory. Although the Missile Silos along the right side are certainly useful, don't be too hasty to rush your Infantry eastward. They can provide great vision from the Mountains which is essential for your Rockets to fire. Keep your Recons concealed in the Forests to provide vision. If you get the opportunity to fire the Missile Silos, aim to damage as many Medium Tanks as possible with each missile.

The Hard Mode version of this mission adds several enemy Neotanks, but the strategy largely remains the same. With their higher defense and mobility, enemy Neotanks become a higher priority target over the Medium Tanks.
