Anglo Isles

The Anglo Isles were a nation from the Battalion Wars series. They resemble Great Britain during the early 20^th-century.

History

The Anglo Isles are a small kingdom comprised of a group of islands, located to the southeast of the Xylvania. While they are small, the Isles enjoy a cultured lifestyle and a reputable history, evidenced by the many castles and ruins dotting along the countryside.

The Anglos were once a major superpower, governing an empire that almost covered the entire world. However, the Iron Legion have successfully destroyed it, reducing the Isles back to their homeland. Despite its current situation, the Isles' military are steadfast and fearsome; Able to contend with oppposing forces remarkably.

After a hefty war, the Angles became the newest member of the Alliance of Nations.

This nation did not appear in Battalion Wars.

In Battalion Wars 2

The Anglo Isles first appear in Campaign 1, where the Anglo forces launch a pre-emptive strike against the Solar Empire, believed to be in possession of a super-weapon; The satellite-controlling staff that was thrown into a Tundran glacier by Empress Qa-Len, after putting an end to the Lightning Wars centuries ago.

As the Solar Imperials scramble to mount a defence against this surprise attack, Anglo Commander Pierce did not believe in the authenticity of this rumored super-weapon. Eventually the Anglos' forces were forced to withdraw and became the grounds for Solar Admiral A-Qira to intitate a counter-offensive strike on the Anglos Isles, alongside their old allies the Tundran Territories.

The Anglo Isles next appear in Campaign 2, where the player commands the Anglo forces against the Solar-Tundran invasion. When the Anglos successfully repel Admiral A-Qira and Marshal Nova's forces, it became clear that the two belligerents were manipulated by a third, Kaiser Vlad; Whom planted the Anglos' false information on the superweapon whereabouts.

Realising that they were used, the Anglos, Solar and Tundra call a tripe entente and help form the Alliance of Nations. The Anglos then later aid Marshal Nova in reclaiming the North Tundra wastes, where the Kaiser had been constructed his Mining Spider. After they scuppered the Kaiser's plot, Commander Pierce flies in to rescue Brigadier Betty, from the spider's demise.

Trivia

• The Anglo Isles is the only nation that did not appear in the original Battalion Wars.
• The Anglo Isles is the only nation that has never deployed any of the three "goliath" units; the Battlestation, the Strato Destroyer, and the Dreadnought.

• There was originally meant to be an Anglo Strato Destroyer, but it was eventually dropped.

• In the mission "Their Finest Hour", there is an old stone monument near the Anglo-held Airbase that is similar in appearance to Stonehenge. This is further proof of the Isles' British basis.
• Excluding the Grunts, all Anglo veterans wear mustaches and kilts.
• The Medium and Heavy Tanks share design elements from the Rolls Royce series of cars and Vickers Medium Tanks.
• Despite its status as a kingdom, the name of the Anglo ruler is never mentioned.
