Bomber units are direct combat planes. They are used for attacking ground and sea units. They are featured throughout the Advance Wars series. Bombers can deal high amounts of damage from a single bomb. The planes are vulnerable to Carriers, Cruisers, Anti-Air units, and other planes such as Fighters and Dusters. With no secondary weapon, Bombers may need to be supplied by an APC or retreat to an airport to replenish fuel and ammo often.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Bombers sport devastating, nigh unparalleled firepower against ground and naval units alike. Combined with their high movement, this makes Bombers a serious threat against unprepared opponents. Anti-Airs, Cruisers, and Missiles can deal heavy damage to Bombers, but even these units are not infallible responses; Bombers can still deal hefty damage to them if they manage to strike first, usually winning the engagement. However, Bombers are completely helpless against other air units. Perhaps the most egregious example is the Fighter, which can outmaneuver Bombers and often shoot them down in one attack for a cheaper cost.

Bombers are also more prone to running low on fuel than most other units due to their high movement and daily fuel consumption.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Orange Star Bomber resembles a compact version of the American B-52 Stratofortress with less engines.
  • The Yellow Comet Bomber resembles a Mitsubishi G4M.
  • The Green Earth Bomber resembles an Arado E.560, a proposed bomber design from Germany during World War II.
