Fighters have one purpose: to utterly destroy other air units. In this role, they are nigh unparalleled. Fighters will heavily damage or destroy any air units they attack, and they boast the movement to hunt them down as well. With their 9 movement, tied for the highest in the series, Fighters can easily deny a huge area from enemy air units. Notably, Fighters are the only unit capable of attacking hidden Stealth Fighters aside from other Stealth Fighters. Unlike Anti-Airs, Fighters are capable of taking on Battle Copters and Bombers with absolutely no risk. Additionally, their aerial movement allows them to cover terrain that an Anti-Air or Missile unit simply cannot.
The main flaw of Fighters is their utter lack of versatility. They are completely unable to attack any kind of land or naval unit, and as such are rendered mostly useless without any enemy air units to attack. As a plane, Fighters can potentially be used to prevent enemy ground or naval units from passing through, but spending 20000 funds on a flying barricade is ill-advised. Fighters are also much more prone to being low on fuel than most other units, mostly because of their incredible mobility and high daily fuel consumption.

** Despite being based on a propellor aircraft, they still emit jet engine noises during battle.

Fighter units are direct combat planes. They are only used for attacking other air units. They are found throughout the Advance Wars series. They are known as Interceptors in the European version of Advance Wars: Dual Strike. This plane can attack any aerial unit, even Black Bombs.

Not to be confused with the Fighters of the European version of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin or the Fighter found in Battalion Wars.

Usage[edit | edit source]
