Enigma! is the twentieth mission of the Advance Wars campaign. It is the first battle where the player fights Sturm, the mysterious foe several other COs have mentioned. Sturm does not use his CO Power in this mission.

Background

Before the mission Sonja has a conversation with Grit, where she says she has their foe by the tail. She needs Grit to convey some intel to Orange Star, as Grit asks her what she will be doing in the meantime. Sonja says she will survey the situation, and won't do anything foolish as her father warned her to take care. Grit is suspicious, but is finally convinced as he does as she asked.

Andy asks who they are facing at the start of the battle, as Max mentions it's probably their mystery foe. The younger CO then asks if his clones will disappear if they will defeat him, which Sami agrees to.

After the battle Max asks whether it was the end, as Grit interrupts them and tells them he found the hiding place of their foe—they have been fighting a clone. He also says they should hurry as Sonja is in danger.

The next mission is The Final Battle!.
