This mission deals with air units, fuel consumption and anti-air defenses.

Air Assault is the eighth mission of the Advance Wars Field Training. It is the only map where the player is not granted the first turn to move, as it is used to have Blue Moon demonstrate the power of Bombers and Fighters.
Before the battle Nell gives the player some good news, as the Orange Star Medium Tank program is a success. Furthermore, the player has been given some new and improved Anti-Air units. However, it soon becomes clear an entire company has been lost on its way to the front lines. As it was made up mostly of Medium Tanks and Tanks, it is a serious problem. She has a notion of what might have happened but declares it impossible before moving out.
Olaf taunts Nell before he makes his first move, even though she probably can't hear him. Nell soon realises her notion was correct, and that Olaf is in the possession of Bombers and Fighters. All the units that were deployed in the region have been decimated, and it is likely that Olaf will be able to overrun a large part of Orange Star if he is not stopped here. After telling the player they must be strong, Nell turns her attention to the Anti-Air unit at the player's disposal, and after a brief instruction she leaves the battle to the player.
