The Final Battle! is the twenty-first mission of the Advance Wars campaign. It is the last mission of the campaign unless the player has unlocked Eagle for this mission, in which case the mission Rivals! follows. It is the only map to feature four armies, as well as the player being in control of more than one of them. While there are several COs possible for each side except the first, the player does not get to choose them. Instead, the CO the player gets is determined by which missions were done in the campaign; each of who also brings a different army with them.

Background

Sonja confronts Sturm, asking him for his name. As he tells her his name, she says they've finally hunted them down and that it's time to bear the consequences of his actions. Sturm tells her she has not hunted him down. Instead, she has merely walked into his trap. He tells her he has been aware of her movements all along, and that she is no match for him, saying it is time to end the farce. Sonja apologises to her father, as she's broken her promise of staying out of harm's way.

Depending on what COs have unlocked, different dialogue will follow before the battle, but there are few things they all have in common. Sonja always tells one of the COs the enemy is much more powerful than they imagined and that they should all run, while Andy claims Sturm will go down, not them.

After having been defeated Sturm exclaims he was close, saying he underestimated the power of the 'worms', vowing that he will return with his dream of world conquest.

A cutscene then follows in Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp, as Nell commands all forces to attack the Black Hole HQ. Inside, Sonja informs Sturm that reinforcements are on the way, but Sturm denies her claims. She is proven right, as Andy, Max, and Sami manage to break through the door leading inside to rescue Sonja, where they find Sturm. Max rushes forward to try and crush Sturm, but fails, as the "Sturm" was a hologram which disappears right before Max crushed him. Regardless, the Orange Star COs and Sonja are returned to safety.

Once again, the dialogue will differ depending on the COs the player has used.

The next mission is Rivals! if Eagle was used in this battle, if not, this is the last mission in the campaign.

CO Requirements

Left Side

• Max: Default option.
• Grit: Choose Max for the mission Max Strikes!.
• Olaf: Choose Andy for the mission Max Strikes! and win Olaf's Navy by rout.

Right Side

• Sami: Default option.
• Kanbei: Clear Kanbei Arrives! within 8 days, Mighty Kanbei! within 10 days and Kanbei's Error? within 12 days. Overwrites Drake if the two coincide.
• Drake: Use Andy for the missions Captain Drake!, Naval Clash!, and Battle Mystery!.
• Eagle: Use Sami for the missions Captain Drake!, Naval Clash!, Wings of Victory!, and Battle Mystery!. Overwrites Kanbei if the two coincide.

Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp

• In Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp, the player is able to choose which COs (except Sonja) go on the left or right side, regardless of the above conditions.
