Air Defense is the ninth mission of the Advance Wars Field Training.

Background[edit | edit source]

Nell is dissatisfied with her superiors because while Olaf possesses Fighter and Bombers, the player has not been given any. Fortunately some Rockets and Missiles have been granted. Nell apologises to the player, as she says she's sorry the enemy always seems to have superior units to Orange Star.

The army of the player is well assembled, but faces two Bombers which are stocked up on fuel and ammunition. If they are not taken out, they will dish out a lot of damage. Since they're across the sea it's hard to attack them, though, but this is where the Missiles come in. Nell explains it and the Rockets before leaving the battle, telling the player it's beatable in 5 days if the player is good enough.

Should the mission be completed in fewer than 5 days, Nell is impressed with the player's skills, while Olaf will be outraged at his loss.
