Max's Folly? is the fifth mission of the Advance Wars campaign. It is the first mission on foreign soil in the Andy route, as the Orange Star army moves into Blue Moon territory.

Background

At the start of the mission Andy, Max and the advisor encounter Grit. Max expresses his surprise at seeing Grit in the Blue Moon army, which Grit dismisses as 'things happen'. He proceeds to provoke Max, causing the latter to take command in the mission. He laments being surrounded by Grit's, as it causes the predicament of either being blown away or having his HQ captured.

After the mission Grit tells Max he should have used indirect combat units more, and tells Max to give Andy a break; Max gives in, and apologises for being a jerk to Andy. The latter tries to gets Grit's attention, but the Blue Moon CO leaves shortly afterwards.
